University Heights

University Heights, home to its namesake, John Carroll University, prides itself on being a walkable community with tree and sidewalk-lined streets, a diverse population, affordable housing and neighborhood conveniences located close to University Circle and downtown Cleveland. Block parties, annual Memorial Day Parades, a community pool, summer concerts and free lectures by JCU professors provide many low-cost activities and create a strong sense of community. Affordable, traditional, colonial housing stock from the 1950’s and 1960’s attracts many young families. The city calls itself "The City of Beautiful Homes."

The local branch of the Heights Libraries has recently undergone a major renovation and includes new areas for children and teens. The shopping district at the intersection of Cedar and Warrensville Center Roads offers convenient shopping and a vast array of retail and dining resources including Whole Foods Market and Target and is in the planning stage of developing a mixed-use lifestyle center in that area.
