Neighborhoods and Suburbs
Gates Mills
Gates Mills, an upscale suburb with rolling hills on the banks of the Chagrin River, is also a small village with the traditions of neighborliness and community spirit. Founded in 1826, it has maintained a sense of historical charm reflected in the many window boxes, bridges, and Western Reserve homes. Both the historical homes as well as the new, larger homes feel rural in this setting. The Gates Mills Elementary School is nestled in the town’s center.

Private and parochial school options are easily accessible. Community-minded residents plan traditional social and recreational programs, including a Fourth of July parade, summer band concert, Halloween party and holiday events. The Village lies within close proximity of two Cleveland Metroparks’ reservations, in addition to large shopping areas and amenities of Mayfield Heights. Gates Mills is consistently ranked as one of the top five most affluent suburbs in the region.
