Berea
Largely agricultural until John Baldwin discovered huge sandstone deposits in the 1800’s, Berea spent the next century as the “grindstone capital of the world” supplying the construction industry until other industries took precedence after WW II.

Anchored by liberal arts college, Baldwin Wallace University, the city has a vibrant arts scene including BW’s acclaimed theater and music department which provides the residents with access to high quality performing arts minutes from their homes. Although century homes are clustered near the historic downtown and the university, most of the homes were built in the 1950’s and 1960’s and are affordably priced. A charming public square provides an anchor to the town with a New England style clock tower, restaurants, and independent shops, including a 60-year-old store that specializes in selling and repairing cuckoo and grandfather clocks.
