Detroit Shoreway/Gordon Square
Detroit Shoreway is a larger neighborhood in the city of Cleveland, while Gordon Square Arts District serves as this neighborhood's "downtown” and many people refer to them interchangeably. This neighborhood truly demonstrates how the arts can revitalize a neighborhood. It has the cutting-edge Cleveland Public Theater, the Capitol Theater (indie films and popular movies) and dozens of restaurants, bars, and shops. Gordon Square, anchored at W. 65th St. and Detroit Rd. sports residential developments including Battery Park, a former brownfield that housed the Eveready Battery Company that underwent a $100M development and now boasts 400+ units of housing (townhomes, single-family homes, and apartments).

One of the major draws is nearby access to Edgewater Beach and Park via a tunnel under the adjacent Rt. 2 Memorial Shoreway, which itself has been reconfigured from a freeway into a 35-MPH boulevard. The neighborhood is diverse in every way imaginable with new construction selling for $350K sitting comfortably on the same street as a very modest 100-year old home inhabited by 5th generation blue-collar Clevelanders. Just a generation ago, this area had the highest density of residents who walked to work in the entire state of Ohio.
